LARC 2024 is accepting submissions until December 4th

Upon acceptance, you are invited to share a simplified poster in the Better Poster format to be shown on screens throughout the conference. These should be sent to: larc2024@byu.edu.

Research Papers are 30 minute interactive breakout sessions. They should present theoretical or empirical research. These sessions are 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for questions. Proposals for empirical studies should provide background and reasons for the research, descriptions of methodology, findings, and implications. Proposals for conceptual papers should introduce the problem addressed in the paper, provide the theoretical orientation or new approach, and indicate the logic of the argument the paper will present. The proposal should include an abstract (≈ 50 words) and be submitted as an anonymized file (PDF, DOC, or DOCX) that is no longer than 500 words.

Colloquia consist of three or four research papers in a 90-minute session. They should include an introductory paper, in addition to the three or four papers, and a discussant. The proposal should include an overview of the theme of the colloquium and its significance for language assessment, along with titles and descriptions of each research paper. The proposal should include an abstract (≈50 words) and be submitted as an anonymized file (PDF, DOC, or DOCX) that is no longer than 1,000 words.

Technology Demonstrations are computer-based demonstrations showcasing the latest technologies, products, services and/or solutions within the language testing industry. These demonstrations should last approximately 10 minutes, and will repeat as attendees rotate among multiple presentations within the session timeframe. All presentations must be shown via a laptop that the participant will be required to bring. Proposals should provide a purpose for the product, an explanation of how it can benefit the language testing process, principles of its development, and implications/challenges of its use. The proposal should include an abstract (≈50 words) and be submitted as an anonymized file (PDF, DOC, or DOCX) that is no longer than 500 words.

Posters/ePosters give presenters an opportunity to discuss assessment research or test development projects with a small group of participants. These presentations should last approximately 6 minutes, and will repeat as attendees rotate among presenters. All presentations must be shown either on a (1) 48 inch x 36 inch poster board or on the presenter’s laptop that will be situated on a 42 inch high cocktail table. The proposal should include an abstract (≈ 50 words) and be submitted as an anonymized file (PDF, DOC, or DOCX) that is no longer than 500 words.

Works-in-progress sessions give presenters an opportunity to discuss and get feedback on research or test development projects which are incomplete. Presenters will be given time to share their work and get feedback from small groups of participants. The proposal should include an abstract (≈ words) and be submitted as an anonymized file (PDF, DOC, or DOCX) that is no longer than 500 words.
